I’m wanting to work on a project that would be such a blessing to our community, with adults that may have physical and/or mental challenges.
Some may know about the organization that Tebow provides to hundreds of churches, in several countries, and is held on the same night.
It is called “Night to Shine”. He treats them with such royalty and goes above and beyond with what is given. They are given a crown/tiara, a limo ride, walk down the red carpet, “paparazzi” cheering them on, music, face painting, pony petting, hair styling, makeup, etc etc just to name a few of the things they get to enjoy that night.
This event is like a prom to our guys and gals, but unfortunately we all know can be costly(clothing). I’m wanting to create a “check out” dress and/or suit type attire(blazers, slacks, bow ties, ties, dress shoes, etc) for the men and women. Once done with checking out the clothing, they then return back to the “stock”. That way there will be many choices of clothing to choose from year after year. Plus not having to wear the same dress over and over, and letting them choose their style makes it much more personable. We all know how special we felt when we went to our prom. How we had someone do our makeup, style our hair, fresh haircuts, etc. red cocktail dress
My hope is to reach that “cherry on top” by letting them shop for attire to go with the special night; to create the night of their lives.
The night to shine is held towards the beginning of February, so I have almost a full year to work on this project. I love helping others. It brings joy to my heart, but this is something I will need help with from my community. I have about 10 dresses, but Hoping to reach a goal of 75 garments(any size is welcome). Donations of dresses(cocktail, prom, symphony type please) would be wonderful, but I’m ok with paying for a dress, if it’s a VERY reasonable price.
Here are some dresses that I have so far. And good examples of what I am looking for.
Added info below of some questions being asked. Thank you for all the shares! It’s greatly appreciated!
The night to shine was on February 9th this year, but there will be one again in February 2019. The Foundation that Tebow created is just spectacular! As far as I know, they are always wanting volunteers and love people to be able to share those moments with them. Each person is paired with a buddy for the night. Aka the volunteers are one on one with our guys and gals. Unfortunately, I don’t know the volunteer part and what all it entails. I work at Life Bridges, here in Cleveland, TN.
My goal is to create a “prom closet” for our guys and gals to be able to shop and check out a dress/attire. Once done with the dance, they would then return and sign back in what they checked out. It doesn’t have to be returned that very night. But, hopeful to be returned by the end of February. That gives them the opportunity to shop for something they enjoy, but also check out something different the following year if they wanted too.
I’ve prayed about it a lot and it’s a big thing to take on, but I know the Lord will place me in the right hands and the right direction with where this project will go. Receiving the support from not only our community, but friends, family, and my job will make this all pull together.
If you keep in touch with me periodically, I will be able to share more info as it is given to us. Night to Shine are all held at a church on the same night, across many countries. You can find the foundation if you search Night to Shine. It should bring up a lot of information.
